Get Ready – BWF AGM 2024 Chengdu, China

It is time to start getting ready for the BWF AGM which is a month earlier than last year!

Further to our announcement of the AGM on 31 October 2023 (linked here), please find below some information on the BWF Annual General Meeting 2024, which will be held on Saturday 27 April 2024 in Chengdu, China, alongside the TotalEnergies BWF Thomas and Uber Cup Finals.

Please find attached the Delegates Nomination Form and the Visa Application Form – these must be completed and sent to Patricia [email protected] no later than 23 February.

  1. Important Information

Here is some key information to help you get ready.

In-person Meeting – delegate(s) must travel to Chengdu to attend the AGM – no virtual option is available. It’s a face-to-face meeting.

  • Friday 26 April – BWF Members’ Forum
  • Saturday 27 April – BWF AGM

 

AGM Meeting Time – 1000 – 1600

AGM Travel Grant – each Member in “good standing” will receive a travel support grant for 1 delegate. This will be paid after the AGM. We will send you more information in the week beginning Monday 29 January.

Accommodation – each Member must book and pay for accommodation at the official hotel in advance (details follow). BWF will reimburse Members 3 nights accommodation for your Voting Delegate (if they attend both the Members’ Forum and the AGM).

Official Hotel – Holiday Inn Chengdu City West Tower (hotel website). We will send you the instructions on how to book for and pay for the hotel (week beginning 29 Jan).

Continental Confederation (CCs) AGMs – some CCs will have their 2024 AGMs in Chengdu on Thursday 25 April. We understand that Badminton Africa, Badminton Asia, Badminton Oceania and Badminton Pan Am will have their AGMs in Chengdu – however, please check with your CC before you make a booking – flights / accommodation. If your CC has its AGM in Chengdu and your voting delegate attends this (and the BWF Forum and AGM), BWF will reimburse your Voting Delegate for 1 additional nights accommodation (so 4 in total if they attend the CC AGM + Members Forum + BWF AGM).

  • Friday 5 January – Deadline for proposals.
  • Wednesday 31 Jan – Subscriptions 2024 due.
  • Friday 8 March – Notice of the AGM / agenda.
  • Friday 22 March – Deadline for amendments.
  • Thursday 25 April – Welcome Dinner
  • Friday 26 April – BWF Members’ Forum 2024
  • Saturday 27 April – 85th BWF AGM
  1. Your Tasks – Get Ready
  • Decide who your delegate (s) will be.
  • Ask your delegate to check their expiry date of their passport – they will need at least 6 months validity from the date of travel.
  • Complete the Delegate Nomination Form (attached) and send to Patricia [email protected] no later than Friday 23 February.
  • Complete the Visa Support Form (attached) and send the completed form AND a copy of the main page of the passports of people seeking a visa for China to Patricia [email protected] no later than Friday 23 February.
  • Check early for flight options for your delegate. Transport will be provided from these airports to the Holiday Inn and back to the airport: (Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) / Tianfu International Airport (TFU))
  • Check whether your Continental Confederation will host its AGM in Chengdu on Thursday 25 April (the day before the Members’ Forum). Then you know which days to check in / check out of the official BWF host hotel.
  • Once you have booked you flights you will need to tell us your flight arrival time / departure time and flight number. We will send an arrival / departure form to complete.
