AGM 2024: Closing Date – Final Reminder
We hope that you had pleasant end-of-year celebrations.
Below are important reminders regarding the Closing Date for Proposal and Nominations (AGM 2024) and the Subscription Fee for 2024.
- Final reminder: Closing Date for Proposals and Nominations – AGM 2024
Further to our Notice of 31 October 2023 (linked here), this is a final reminder that the deadline for proposals and nominations for the AGM 2024 is midnight KL time on Friday 5 January 2024.
Any proposals and nominations from Members must be sent to Thomas Lund, Secretary General ([email protected]). Please copy in Patricia Wong ([email protected]).
Clause 15.12 states the following:
Notice in writing of any proposal falling under the competent business of the AGM (Clauses 15.2.7 and 15.2.8), shall be submitted in writing by any Member in Good Standing and must be endorsed by the appropriate Continental Confederation or seconded by two other Members in Good Standing. Such notice of a proposal and the endorsement(s) of the proposal shall be sent directly to the Secretary General of the Federation at the Federation’s official address, so as to reach the Federation not later than the date published in accordance with Clause 15.1.
Election to Fill Casual Vacancy
Please be reminded also that there will be an election at the AGM 2024 to fill a casual vacancy on the BWF Council (see our Notice of 1 September 2023 – linked here).
Because former Council member Emma Mason was a European woman on Council, to satisfy the Geographical and Gender Representation Requirements of Clauses 2 and 3 of Appendix I of the Constitution (linked here), nominees for election can only be women from Europe.
Any Member in Good Standing can nominate / second nominations for elections. See our Notice of 20 December (linked here) for details of the nomination form and process to nominate someone. This now includes the Vetting Declaration Form (Form C).
- Subscription 2024
We also remind you that the deadline to pay the subscription fee for 2024 is midnight on Sunday 31 January 2024.
Please note that players cannot be entered into competitions after 31 January 2024 if the subscription is not paid by the deadline.
Clause 26.6 of the BWF constitution states that “In no circumstances can a Member’s player(s) or a team continue to compete beyond the due date for payment of the subscription, nor can that Member stage a Federation sanctioned tournament”.
